June 19, 2024

Panther Mountain Band is returning this year for the 1st 2024 Concert in the Park.

July 17, 2024 - Cancelled due to storm.

Off The Record Trio" is the Capital District’s only 1960’s rock and roll lounge band. Awarded a music “Eddie" for Best Capital District Party Cover Band 2 years in a row, the trio plays 60’s vintage tunes as well as some hidden nuggets with a modern twist. It is led by the dynamic and engaging Joanna Palladino on vocals with local favorite Geo on guitar/vocals along with Bob Resnick splashing rock and roll rhythms on a minimalist drum set.

August 21, 2024

We have a wonderful surprise for you this August! We will be concluding our Summer Concerts with two solo acoustic performers. This concert will be slightly longer than our usual shows, to give each performer enough time to showcase their talents.

From 6:00 to 7:30, we will have the pleasure of enjoying a performance by Faith Anne (known to her students as Ms. Gaddis). Faith Anne is a solo acoustic artist who plays a diverse range of songs from a variety of music styles and decades. From 7:30 to 9:00, a truck-driving Adirondack folk musician named Josh Clevenstine will perform. Josh is a singer/songwriter who plays Adirondack Americana Music. His music is propelled by cross-picking guitar, reminiscent of the great Johnny Cash.

April 6th - Eclipse Over America

On August 21, 2017, millions of Americans witnessed the first total solar eclipse to cross the continental United States in 99 years. As in all total solar eclipses, the moon blocked the sun and revealed its ethereal outer atmosphere - its corona - in a wondrous celestial spectacle. While hordes of citizens flocked to the eclipse's path of totality, scientists, too, staked out spots for a very different reason: to investigate the secrets of the sun's elusive atmosphere. During the eclipse's precious seconds of darkness, they gathered new clues on how our sun works, how it can produce deadly solar storms, and why its atmosphere is so hot. NOVA investigates the storied history of solar eclipse science, and joins both seasoned and citizen-scientists alike as they don their eclipse glasses, tune their telescopes, and behold the Eclipse Over America

April 13th - My Garden of a Thousand Bees

A story of surprise and revelation. Martin Dohrn, a veteran wildlife filmmaker and a bee enthusiast, embarked on a special challenge during the COVID-19 lockdown of 2020: to film all the bees he could find in his tiny urban garden in Bristol, England. By the end of the summer, he became bee obsessed and developed relationships with some individuals.

April 20th - Bat Superpowers

Could the source of the world's deadliest viruses hold the secret to a healthier and longer life? Bats have a sinister reputation as potential sources for some of the deadliest disease outbreaks: Ebola, MERS, SARS, and most recently, SARS-CoV-2, the virus behind the COVID-19 global pandemic.

April 27th - Facing the Climate Change

NOVA explores ways that scientists are facing the climate challenge.

Weathering the Future: As extreme weather in the U.S. impacts more people–with longer heat waves, more intense rainstorms, megafires, and droughts–discover how Americans are fighting back by marshaling ancient wisdom and innovating new solutions.

Chasing Carbon Zero: The U.S. recently set an ambitious climate change goal: zero carbon emissions by 2050. And to achieve that, slash emissions in half by 2030. Is it possible? And what kind of technology would it take? Meet scientists and engineers who are convinced we can achieve carbon zero in time to avoid the biggest impacts of climate change.

Arctic Sinkholes: Scientists investigate colossal explosions in Siberia and other evidence that rapidly melting soil in the Arctic is releasing vast amounts of methane, a potent greenhouse gas. What are the implications for our climate future?

The Handlebarley

Hosted at Paradox Brewery in North Hudson, the Handlebarley Gravel Weekend features two incredible fall days of gravel riding in the southern Adirondacks. The best part is you can sign up to ride just Saturday, only Sunday, or make it a full weekend.

Dates: September 13-14
Location: North Hudson
Mileage: 20-44 miles
Participation Cap: 150 riders

Regardless of the number of days you choose to ride, you're guaranteed some awesome dirt, equally amazing views and a whole lot of fun. Saturday's ride is a 20-mile afternoon social cruise to stunning Elk Lake Lodge followed by post-ride drinks at the brewery. The main event is Sunday where we venture east of the brewery to Ironville for a stop at Hunter Way Farm and the Penfield Homestead Museum before heading back to the brewery for a pizza and salad feast complete with live music. In between, you'll experience some of the finest paved and gravel backroads anywhere in the region.

Best of all, the event benefits the Penfield Homestead Museum in historic Ironville, known as the "Birthplace of Electrical Age." The museum is not just a homestead, but a group of 19th-century buildings and extensive grounds. During your visit, you can check out the home built by Allen Penfield, farm yard barns, a church, and a parsonage built in the 1840s.
