Newcomb Ski Slope

For more than 50 years, The Town of Newcomb has owned, and operated, its own two-run ski slope where generations of residents have learned to ski. It is 200 vertical feet. There is a wide main run and a side woodsy run. From the top, there's a beautiful pay-off — a view of the snowy High Peaks from the south. Free, and a good place to learn and practice your downhill skiing skills. Good for sledding, snowboarding, and downhill skiing. Call for schedule.

Gore Mountain

Winter

Gore has 121 trails, boasts 2,537 vertical feet, and is home to the most skiable acreage in New York. 14 lifts including an eight-passenger Northwoods Gondola and two luxurious high-speed quads keep you out of lines, with more time on the trails and in the parks. There is terrain for everyone, from beginner slopes to the famous double black diamond run "Lies" to the best glades around! With six on-mountain dining options scattered across the mountain, you can refuel and keep skiing or riding without missing a beat. There is a variety of mountain services for your convenience, safety, and enjoyment. The Nordic center and Village Slopes at the North Creek Ski Bowl are lit for evening fun!

Summer and fall

Gore turns the off-season on with scenic gondola rides, adventure activities, festivals, and more through the summer and fall. There are special events and community gatherings, and any level of catering year-round. For the adventurous, downhill mountain biking is available and quite a thrill! There are interpretive hikes for all hiking levels: one at the base area and one near where the gondola unloads. Gore is also home to one of New York's last remaining fire towers, and it can be accessed during times when the ski resort is not open (and it only counts toward the Fire Tower Challenge if done out of ski season). There is a hiking trail that starts near North Creek and is 9.3 miles (round trip); however, the fire tower is closed to public use.

Getting married? Even if you aren't a skier or rider, with sweeping vistas and custom catering, this just might be the venue of your dreams!
