About

The Johnsburg & Minerva Historical Societies are co-sponsoring a free program at the Tannery Pond Center on September 29th from 3 pm to 5 pm. Amy Godine will be presenting her new book, “The Black Woods”, about upstate New York’s black settlers in the 1800’s and their benefactor, abolitionist Gerrit Smith. This is a fascinating story that you won’t want to miss. Did you know that “Timbuctoo” was a real place located in the Adirondacks?

Please join us for this FREE event. The author will tell the story and be available for signing her books. Light refreshments will be served.
